My sister told me a story tonight that made my hair stand on end but I have to explain a few things first.

I was born in Sheffield and lived in a small village called Oxspring about 20 miles from the town centre until I was 16 when my Mum and Dad got divorced and sold the house I grew up in.

The house which was built (I think) in 1857 was situated virtually in the middle of nowhere on the top of a hill. Very few houses and farms were scattered here and there and I remember when I was younger there was no gas, no phones, no main sewers and no street lights there so at night because we didn't live near a big city there was no lighting pollution and so you can imagine when it turned dark and you were bed it was pitch black and very scary.

The house haunted me for 16 years with its creaks and groans. Gales and storms would rage outside causing powercuts making it the perfect scene from a horror movie. I was convinced there was something lurking not from this life but maybe that was my overactive childhood imagination, but I did experience a couple of things during the time I lived there.

I always used to sleep with the landing light on and when I was about 8 years old I woke up one night and I remember looking over to my dressing table and thinking what the hell is that. There sat on top of the dresser was a black cat, we had a black cat at the time but he would never stay in the house at night and this cat was definately not mine, It was a scrawny, flea bitten, mangy small cat and as I watched too terrified to move or scream, it stood up and opened it eyes, arched its back and opened its mouth as if it was going to hiss, although it never seemed to ackgnowlegde I was there. By now I was so scared I closed my eyes and prayed that the morning would come, I was paralysed with fear and could not move, eventually I must have fallen asleep. Early next morning it had gone with no sign what so ever of it ever being there, nothing had been disturbed. I rushed down and told my Mum & Dad what I saw but they laughed and told me I had been dreaming, then I went to the door and let my cat in. I have never forgot that night, but as I have got older I wondered if it was just a dream.

Another thing for some reason the landing upstairs and the staircase itself also gave me the creeps, I always got the feeling someone was following me when I went downstairs, and a few occastions the hairs on my neck would stand on end for no reason and I would shoot downstairs as fast as I dare without breaking my neck because the presense was so strong.

Anyhow what I'm getting round to is that my sister works for a car dealership and was telling me tonight this man came in not long back to buy a car. It turns out he lives in our old house because my sister recognised the address when they were doing his paperwork. They got chatting and he said that if at anytime we wanted to go and visit him we could to see the work he had done on it since we moved out, although several people have bought and sold it inbetween. He then went on to ask if anything funny happened while we lived there, so my sister asked him what like. Before she carried on I laughed and said jokingly did he say he had ever seen a black cat and she said yes how did I know that. Every hair on my body stood on end, my sister never knew about what I saw that night. He also went on to tell her he has seen the spirit of a man on the staircase, things move about all the time, plants throw themselves off window sills, lights turn on and off by theselves etc, how scary is that, so was it a dream eh.

How come though I only ever saw it once but hes seen it loads of times?

Weird thing was on Saturday, I took a friend out for a ride in the countryside and I took him to see this house to show him where I grew up. It still haunts me to this day as I dream about it often but my dreams are always dark and sinister.

I know that the house used to be a pub and also at one time a butchers shop but I can find no history on the internet what so ever, there is a stone plaque on the front of it which says "Reward of Industry, G Knowles, 1857", but I have no idea what this means, my sister reckons it could have been build before 1857 and the date is when this Reward of Industry was given. I wish I could find out more.

So there you go, hope I din't bore you with that lol.

Today I got a lovely gift through the post from overseas. I received The Def Leppard Rock of Ages DVD Collection from Sandy, isn't she the best. I love the making of No Matter What in the bonus section esp the bit where the camera zooms in on Joe's eyes and he winks at the camera..................phwarrrrrrr lol!!!! Thank you so much Sandy.

What's the point in buying a 5' x 3 1/2' poster if your not gonna put it up on the wall? I decided that since its been rolled up gathering dust for over 3 years its time to put it up and guess what no one can tell me to take it down lol.

Its in the spare room with all my junk lol as you can see at the bottom of the picture. That teddy, my dad bought me when I was 2 so he's knocking on a bit himself and you know what he hasn't got a name, I have just realised after all these years I never gave him one.

I thought I would give it one last go at growing my hair before I get too old only its got to just past collar length and doesn't seem to want to grow anymore. I have it cut at least once every 6 weeks on the ends to keep it neat but it just won't grow lol.

Anyhow I bought some extensions the other day, the colour match is exact but I just can't make up my mind up if they suit me or not lol, I'll post some pictures of them next time I wear them.

They are really clever, long strips of human hair that you cut down to the desired width and attach at the roots with small clips so your own hair hides them and they weren't that pricey either compared to permenant extensions.

Halfway there to the weekend, can't wait am having another busy week at work

Nothing much to report even though I promised I would try harder lol, got up this morning at the crack of dawn to see a thick blanket of fog outside.....ewwww, although the sun is trying to break through it now, looks like its going to be a nice day.

Went out last night just to a local pub for a couple of beers with a friend of mine, was nice to chill out cos this week at work has been manic and I was glad to see the back of it.

Wont be long now before the garden centre near me will be displaying Christmas trees and stuff for sale, normally the end of this month, where has this year gone?

Can't make my mind up what to do today lol.

A couple of fellow bloggers have mentioned how they have noticed that some people aren't blogging as much as they used to, and yes I am one of them, although I never had that much to say lol.

Ladies I just don't seem to have anything interesting happen to me these days that would grab you lol, maybe I need to get a life. I promise I'll try a bit harder though.

Oh I did decorated the bathroom though on saturday lol, first time I've ever had to do any decorating while being on my own, quite enjoyed it and when I stood back and looked at the finished room I was quite proud, hmm think I'll make it on my own somehow.

Why is it all good things must come to an end? I arrived home early Friday evening from New Jersey, tired and hot and sticky, but it was well worth all the nerves and Im so proud of myself for doing it alone, I had the time of my life.

Lisa and her family made me feel so welcome and looked after me like a princess, I was sad to come home and cried when we parted at the airport. (Like I always do lol).

During my stay I attended a Taekwondo lesson, oh my, I had no balance, no co-ordination and poor Lisa was stuck with me for the whole lesson, I was knackered when I finished, but I did enjoy it lol.

We attended a graduation party for one of Lisa and Ricks nephews, its weird have just thought that I actually knew these people now from visiting before, everyone loved my accent lol.

Lisa had her **nd birthday while we were there, gosh is it only 2 years since your were 40 my dear lol. I tried to keep your age a secret dear, it just slipped out....oops. We celebrated on Strawberry Daquiris and Marguritas (sp), and Lisa invited a few friends over, she reckons she didnt have too much to drink but Ill tell you she got rather loud by the end of the night lol. Oh dear there I go again.

Then there was the one thing Lisa and I have wanted to do together from day one.....see a Def Leppard concert....together, this time it happened, it just didnt seem real though, the concert itself seemed real it was just the fact that Lisa was stood next to me and I was in New Jersey. It was awesome and they rocked, Lisa lost her voice and I lost what is left of my hearing lol, didnt take my camera in though so no pics Im afraid. I did meet Nancy (Peach), Lori, Jacquie and her sister, and Envy (sorry Envy I dont know your real name) all these girls were really sweet and I was honoured that they sought me out.

The weather was not too good while I was there so we were limited as to what we could do on these rainy days, but on the last day the weather was scorcing so we went to see a friend of Lisas called Elvira, and hung out round her pool and had snacks, Lisa my shoulder is still sore from the sunburn lol, serves me right lol.

Aw I cant believe Im back home already it flew while I was there, so Lisa Id like to take this oportunity to thank you and all your family with all my heart for having me, I had a brilliant time and I miss you so much.

Well this will be my last post now for a couple of weeks, (nowt new there then lol). I set of to the airport in 9 hours time in between now and then I have to get some sleep and its only 17:25. How the hell am I gonna get some sleep Im too excited/nervous, Lisa dear I hope you are as excited as I am, just get me there and cut out the plane journey please . I cant believe what an exciting few days Ive just had and its not over yet, far from it.

So Ill see you in a couple of weeks, if I get the chance Ill blog while Im in New Jersey, take care everyone.

Oh one more thing, to a certain person, and you know who you are, Im gonna miss you so much, if only you knew.

I love to write when I'm in the right frame of mind, although my writing skills are not very good. I find it hard to describe thing I see in my mind and am not always able to put in writing what I'm thinking, also my grammar is not very good. Anyway this post isn't about my writing skills (or lack of) it's my review of the Def Leppard gig from Saturday 17th June 2006. Sorry there are only six photos as the rest were even naffer than these lol, Rhonda Elizabeth please can you give me some tips on concert photos lol before I give up and throw the damn camera outa the window.

YEAH

What can I say about last night gig? Words alone cannot describe the performance Def Leppard gave their fans. They looked great, played on top form and gave it all they could possibly give and more, Def Leppard have made a comeback in my eyes. The performance was pure electric from start to end, the crowd adored them and it showed.

I didn't care too much for the support acts, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band and Cheap Trick and started to get a bit bored, but was patient and heard then out. They seemed to go on forever which is probably why Def leppards set seemed shorter than I am used to and could be described as a Yeah/Greatest Hits set which suited me fine. Also having a big screen at the back of the stage made it a much more professional gig giving it a totally different atmosphere altogether.

Highlights for me last night were Rocket, which in the past always bored me live, but last night, I don't know, I saw it in a different light and really listened and enjoyed, Hanging on the Telephone, Promises, Armageddon it, Let it Go, WLAHC, Rock Rock (till ya drop), they were all excellent in fact there wasn't one song I didn't enjoy, they were all highlights. I wasn't keen on Rock On when I first heard it and it never grew on me but on hearing it live last night, well I was in awe, especially seeing as Sav got an introduction for this one which rarely happens. I knew PSSOM me was going to be in the encore I mean come on, it's not a Def Leppard gig without that. even if you don't like it.

You can always tell when Joe's Mum & Dad are in the audience as he always behaves himself and doesn't swear which I think is really sweet and especially when he dedicated Love Bites to his Dad, being his favourite song..........awwww bless. Some songs Joe sang it was hard to hear his voice, it seemed to be on the older songs but I noticed this could be due to the crowd joining in more. Btw he looked amazing in his leather pants and jacket they so suited him and oh boy did he sweat and get all flushed, oh those flushed cheeks lol.

Rick Allen was choked at his introduction and kept holding his hand to his chest to show everyone which brought slight tears to my eyes. (I'm a big softie you see). He so deserves the biggest reception from the crowd and without fail always gets it......another awwwww bless.

Phil as always was amazing, his body is attached to that guitar, I swear it's an extension of his own body, the way he swings his arm then wipes his brow all in the same movement without missing a single note is just so cool, then arches his back with a look of ecstasy on his face.

Viv always seems a bit more reserved and shy but I didn't get a good look at him last night as he was over the other side of the stage from me but he still had that cheeky grin as he always has.

As for Sav, well unless I've never noticed before, he seems a changed man, a lot more confident with the crowd, he looked great, really well and genuinely enjoyed the crowd participation, very flirty, more then he usually is.

Managed to capture Mark Senffs attention, he came over and had a chat with me and went to get (by request) some guitar picks which was sweet of him, dont care what anyone says, he's a really nice guy and was thrilled that he remembered me from last time we met. Saw Ross Halfin in the photography pit too. Malvin was hiding side stage and came out a couple of times but didn't come onstage to introduce the guys like he has done in the past.

I can't ever imagine Joe not saying at the end of a gig "Until next time, and there will be a next time", it's just part of the show and it's what we expect to hear now, and we did.

All I all one of the best Def Leppard gigs I have seen and I know I am biased being Sheffield born and almost bred, but you can't beat a Def Leppard gig in their own home town and because of them I wouldn't want to have be born anywhere else.

Im sure you were all aware that Def Leppard won a Sheffield Legends award and the award ceremony was held at Sheffield Town Hall on Friday 16th June 2006.

Well I decided seeing as it was not that far from where I live to get myself over there and watch and drag my poor mum along too (shes 77 bless her) .

Oh wow I was right at the front, the guys loooked great and you know what Savs hair is growing on me he looked so well in fact they all did. I met Joe, Phil and Sav, got their autographs and had a quick word with each, I asked Joe to say hello to my mum and he goes, "hello mum in the red dress to her" bet she was really thrilled lol I know I was.

Oh I could go on but I wont as I have so much to do before Wednesday when I fly over to New Jersey for round 2 (round 1 last night Sheffield Arena) but thats another story lol.

Sorry my grammar is crap Im trying to type this as fast as I can and the damn apostrophie key on my laptop doesnt work.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of mice cheaply and humanely lol? It would seem that since the flat next door has had their roof insulated, Ive now got mice. Does anyone know of anything that I can use which will deter them as I cant bear to kill them lol? I just want them to go away as I cant stand the thought of them running amok while Im in bed asleep lol, Im not really scared of em just dont want em lol.

Just a quick note to let you all know I'm ok. As some of you are aware things in my personal life have not being too good so as of November last year I decided to split from my husband and start afresh, I don't feel great about leaving him, but I only live once so it's something I had to do. I moved out and into my new place on December 22nd (was hard work with it being Christmas lol but I did it). So wish me luck ladies as I think I might be needing it, although I am happier on my own. Hope 2006 is a great year for everyone and I hope to be back online asap as I'm doing this work. See ya later guys.

Last night I did something I've not done before, I went to a rugby match. New Zealand V Australia in the finals, NZ won 24 - 0 which I was glad about as Australia knocked England out in a previous match, quite enjoyed myself lol.

This post is to send a big thank you to my Lep mate Lisa for the parcel she sent me for my birthday, I was like OMG OMG OMG when I opened it as she sent me a Rock of Ages tour t-shirt which are like non existent as of yet in the UK. Big hugs Lisa.....muah.

Last year my niece got married in Scotland and she paid for all her family to attend. Ah this is the life...............no work for a week lol. Thank you everyone for all your birthday wishes they really made my day. Tomorrow I'm off to Mecca (Sheffield actually) armed with camera although if weather is crap I may not get any good pics so we will see. I'm going to try t0 get some shots of our autumn colours because where I am going there is some beautiful countryside.

Can anyone tell me how I reply to a message within a message, I looked on Haloscan but I'm either blind or stupid or both and I just can't find anything lol.

Yesterday I got my first parking fine. I met a friend in town for a bit of shopping and a coffee, got there on time only to find I couldn't park where I normally do so I decided to try another car park. It was so busy, cars and people everywhere and its on the steepest hill Iv'e ever seen (not good with hill starts here lol).

Anyhow I'm driving up the very steep hill into the carpark and the car in front stops so I stop too, front wheel of my car infront of a speed ramp, back wheels behind it and put my handbrake on. Car infront moves on, I get my biting point with the clutch and accelorater, go to take the handbrake off and the f*****g thing wouldn't buge, the handbrake was jammed on. I was like WTF do I do now lol. So I put my hazzards on and there's like 50 thousand cars behind me all waiting.

So I'm trying to negotiate keeping the car at biting point on a very very steep hill not to mention the speed bump I'm on, while trying to lean over to my left and use both hands on the handbrake. Eventually it came off but biting point wasn't quite enough to get me going so I stamped on the foorbrake before I rolled back and was like right ok, quick release of foot brake, almighty rev of engine while lifting foot off clutch and VRRRRRRMMMM (very loud vrrrmmm might I add) and off we go. Phew.

By now I'm ike 15 mins late and my phone is constantly going off (was my friend wondering where I am). Run to ticket machine to get a ticket only to find it was out of order, as if I didn't know lol. Ok so I run like the clappers to the bottom of this huge car park to find another machine and bingo got a ticket, ran all the way back up to top of humungous car par, slapped ticket on dash, locked car up and made haste to meet my friend who I might add is sat in a cafe the OTHER end of town. (I'm nearly having a heart attack by now lol).

Got there to find she and her daughter ahd already ordered and drunk up, so I had a quick Coke and then we set of to look round town, buy now I'm like so wound up.

So later on and pounds poorer, I set off back to trek to top of huge steep car park once again, exhausted I reach the top, slump in the drivers seat, look up to see somethings stuck to the windsceen. I get back out rip it off, open it up to find its a f*****g parking fine, but why, I've got a ticket, I got one for 3 hours and I'm back early. Then I realise I placed it upside down on the dash. Yeah I know I'm so stupid lol......so 30 pounds its gonna cost me if I pay up within 7 days, if not it's 50 pounds, yeah I've got money to burn let's wait a couple of weeks................not lol.

So the moral of this story is...................even though you will still probably be late, always catch the friggin bus, it's cheaper and a lot less hassle.

Oh yeah and it's week from hell next week, again lol, then I'm off out again Friday night and then I have a week off, can't bloody wait....Vampires Rock is nearly upon me!!!!

My niece who has gone abroad to travel for 6 months emails me to let me know what she's up to, I don't know if anyone is interested but I thought I would share her last email she sent me today.

Hi all,

Well this is the first chance we have had to email you all after our exciting trip to the jungle!

Day one started with a twelve hour train ride to north Thailand to Chaing Mai from Bangkok.

Arrived late at night to our guest house, a little scary at first with locked gates and a guard but the next day it seemed fine with a relaxing leafy courtyard and resturant with friendly staff.

We booked a private Eco Hill Tribe Trek in the Doi Inthanon National Park where only our party could visit so no other tourists around.

Our first day trekking involved a four hour drive in a safari truck with seven other trekkers and our local guide - Pon. The drive was broken up with a visit to a local market and a bat cave where we stopped for lunch. Once we reached our drop off point in the mountains we had our fist real experience of walking in the jungle with a four hour hike to our over night hut in the nearby Karen Tribe Village, on route passing through rice fields, wading through rivers and balancing over bamboo bridges. In the village our bed was a bamboo sleeping platform with mozzi nets to keep the BIG spiders out - going to the toilet at night was pretty scary!. Eat our evening meal by candle light with some of the Karen Villagers watching. Food fantastic, cooked by Pon on an open wood fire.

Day two - got even better, tea and coffee in bamboo cups with scrambled egg for breakfast set us up for the day before we set out to camp 2. Started with a two hour walk to the elephant camp where we hitched a ride on the back of an elephant with Andrew sitting at the front on his head, I opted for the seat and held on!. After another couple of hours walking through leech infested water and jungle paths I (sarah) managed to pick up a small blood thisty friend!!!!!!
Lunch was rice served on a banana leaf. The last part of the day was walking to our river side camp after negotiating a very rickity bamboo bridge. After a days hot and sweaty walking we took a welcome swim and wash in the river - fantastic!. Again a bamboo bed and mozzi nets. Pre dinner popcorn and candle lit meal with a few well earnt beers listening to jungle noises of crickets and croaking frogs.

Our last day we awoke to the sound of chopping wood only to find that our guide and local tribe people were making our bamboo rafts for our journey down the fast flowing river. What an experience to ride on a bamboo raft over rapids, at one point we lost our guide in the water after hitting a rock and our raft nearly capsized. Extreme fun, got very wet and we would do it all again tomorrow! Walking back to the truck our guide spotted a tarantula in it's burrow.

After the trek went out for a meal and a few drinks with our fellow trekkers - we have met some really nice people and are going to meet up with our new found friend Lia in Singapore at the end of Nov.

Trekking, Chaing Mai, our guide and the whole experience so far has been great.

Caught a night train from Chaing Mai back to Bangkok, hoping to catch a bus to Cambodia tomorrow.

In all my life I have never seen a Greater Spotted Woodpecker in the flesh until this morning, hubby took this photo as it fed on a neighbours birdtable. I then sent hubby out to the garden centre to get loads of bird seed for our garden to see what we can attract.

Its 3 years ago today that my beloved dog Sam died after battling with fluid on his lungs and a leaky valve in his heart, he was 13 years old. I'll never forget the moment I left him with the vet after being told to go home and come back later after they had made him comfortable, sadly he died before I came back, I have never forgiven myself for not being there when he passed. He's still with me though as he was cremated and I brought his ashes home. I know some people will think this is morbid but it's what I wanted to do and I'm glad I did.

Well another week nearly over, I can't believe it's october all ready, Christmas is round the corner lol. Nothing much planned for the near future apart from got a week off work at the end of October during which I go to see a show, got a new toy the other day, a new guitar, guess I have to learn how to play properly now lol. I know its a very boring post lol.

Ooh also, since my niece left the UK on Saturday I have had 2 emails form her already, sounds like they are having the time of their lives in Thailand at the moment.

Enjoyed a night out tonight with my family, my eldest neice, Sarah who's 30, leaves England on Saturday for a 6 months round the world trip with her husband. They will be visiting places like Thailand, New Zealand, Australia and America so we thought we would all get together before they leave, was very emotional at the end of the night when we said our goodbye's.

Tonight I went for a spin in my sisters brand spanking new car, its a Volvo estate and has six gears, its real nice and comfy, its alright for some lol. She has also just bought a new weekend retreat, a new caravan, get this, en suite bathroom, utility room with washing machine, central heating and air conditioning, all the mod cons, can't wait to check it out lol.

Isn't modern technology great......................when it works that is lol. I have had no internet connection for about 3 days till last night, I tried eveything I could possibly think of, new cables for the external modem (£30 later), uninstalling it and re-installing it (a thousand times) ringing up the ISP provider (fat lot of good they were), until I decided to run a virus scan last night. Now bear in mind I run one about once a week and the last one was clear so I didn't expect to get any results there.....................but oh yes, guess what? I had a virus on my modem which stopped me from connecting.................unbelievable lol, why didn't I think of that 3 days ago..........duh!!!!!

Thought I would drop in and say hi lol. Still not much happening in my neck of the woods these days lol although I do have my Vampires Rock tickets in my hot little hands.

Was nice to have the day off today seeing as it was Bank Holiday Monday here, although I keep thinking its Sunday today, it feels like it.

I see there are still no plans for a UK tour, I'm beginning to doubt there ever will be as nothing has leaked, not one little tidbit of a rumour even.............sigh, oh well I'll keep hoping.

I hope that everyone in the path of the hurricane in America is safe and that there is minimal damage, mother nature is so cruel sometimes.
